Important Update: Leadership Structure Changes at Saffron Valley Collegiate

As Saffron Valley Collegiate continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of our pupils, families, and community, we are pleased to announce significant changes to our leadership structure, effective from 1st September 2025.

Historically, Saffron Valley Collegiate (SVC) evolved from five separate PRUs, each led by a Headteacher or Head of School. Following federation, these roles became Heads of Provision, supported by Assistant Heads of Provision, to oversee key areas across the Federation.

However, with evolving Ofsted requirements; our merger of Cotelands and Springboard into one provision; and joining the Alternative Learning Trust (ALT), it has become clear that our current structure no longer fully supports our school’s priorities or aligns with national and Trust-wide expectations.

Summary of the New Leadership Structure

  • Head of School: A new leadership role, the Head of School, will be created to consolidate and drive improvement in areas such as Curriculum, Teaching & Learning, Behaviour, and Post-16 & Careers. Each Head of School will have clear, whole-school responsibilities, ensuring stronger oversight and progress in these key areas.
  • Deputy Headteacher: All previous “Head of Provision” roles will become Deputy Headteachers. This change strengthens our leadership by aligning with sectorrecognised titles, increasing external recognition, and ensuring robust and consistent leadership across the school.
  • Assistant Headteacher: All previous “Assistant Head of Provision” roles will become Assistant Headteachers, ensuring titles and responsibilities are externally recognised and comparable within the Alternative Learning Trust

We are excited about the opportunities this new structure will bring for our staff, pupils, and wider community.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we move into this new era together.

Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Saffron Valley Collegiate, where every young person’s journey matters.

At SVC, our mission is to provide a personalised educational experience that truly identifies and responds to the unique circumstances and needs of each individual child or young person in our care. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, and we are committed to enabling all our pupils to progress and become successful, confident learners.

Our dedicated team works closely with students and their families to reengage each young person with education. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we support our students in rediscovering their enthusiasm for learning to enable them to unlock their potential, whatever their starting point.

We are guided by our core values: Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.

These principles shape everything we do - inside and outside the classroom. We encourage our pupils to be prepared for learning, to treat themselves and others with kindness and respect, and to make choices that keep themselves and those around them safe.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Saffron Valley Collegiate. If you have any questions or would like to visit us, please do get in touch.
